Mit ImageAlpha lassen sich 8bit RGBA-PNGs erzeugen.

Photoshop can’t save grayscale PNGs, so you would have to use OptiPNG after saving black-and-white images, like this:
optipng -o5 bw-image.png
Grayscale images takes much less space than RGBs, because each pixel described with only one byte, not three.

background-image + background-repeat + background-position + 24-bit PNGs for Internet Explorer 6 (…Better late than never!)

DD_belatedPNG nutz die Tatsache, dass VML das PNG Format korrekt implementiert und vermeidet so den AlphaImageLoader.
