Spaß mit PDF-Dateien

(Apples Vorschau, aber auch Adobes Acrobat) kopiert in PDF-Dateien nicht nur eine mit dem Auswahlwerkzeug markierte Passage, sondern übernimmt auch den vollständigen Inhalt der restlichen Seite – versteckt und unbemerkt – in ein neu aus der Zwischenablage angelegtes Dokument. Der ausgeblendete Teil bleibt auch über das anschließende Speichern und weitere Bearbeiten der neuen PDF-Datei vorhanden.

Das scheint eher ein technisches Problem zu sein, als ein Bug. Ist aber in jedem Fall spannend zu wissen.

We were waiting on the completion of some major features (Type1 fonts, gradients, etc.) before communicating pdf.js more broadly. We’ve been taken by surprise by the early and intense interest in our work, so we decided to blog and talk about our project earlier than we initially planned. Julia Wolf zeigte auf dem 27C3 zahlreiche Sicherheitsprobleme des PDF Formats.

Beispielsweise könne man in ein PDF einen Datenbank-Scanner einbauen, der beim Ausdrucken des Dokuments auf einem Netzwerkdrucker aktiv werde und das Netzwerk abtaste. Auch sonst sei das Dokumentenformat für zahlreiche Überraschungen gut. Es sei etwa möglich, PDFs zu schreiben, die in unterschiedlichen Betriebssystemen, Browsern oder PDF-Lesern – oder sogar in Abhängigkeit von der Spracheinstellung eines Rechners – verschiedene Inhalte darstellten.
