Microformats: TransFormr

Ich hatte schon lange nichts mehr über Microformate. Auf der Website microform.at kann man diverse Formate einer URL erkennen und transformieren, sehr cool.

Dahinter steht: TransFormr:

TransFormr is a simple toolkit that uses PHP and XSLT for extracting and transforming microformats.
Microformats that are supported by this transformer are: hCard, hCalendar, hReview, hAtom, geo, hAudio

GeoMarker

Christian Heilmann stellt den Service GeoMaker vor.

In just three steps you can either get from URL to map or from text to map. If you add the site address to analyze as a URL parameter it even goes down to two steps.

Der Service nutz Yahoo Placemaker und versucht die Geo-Informationen aus dem Text zu extrahieren. Neben einer Map werden die gefundenen Orte auch gleich als hCard formatiert.

Ich habe es gerade ein wenig getestet. Die Ergebnisse waren nicht immer perfekt, aber trotzdem recht nützlich wenn man bedenkt wie wenig Arbeit es einen kostet

Geolocation Button in WordPress

Das Yahoo! Developer Network Blog stellt eine Möglichkeit vor mit Greasemonkey, YQL, and Placemaker einen Geolocation-Button in WordPress einzufügen.

Geo This (also available on GitHub) is a Greasemonkey script for Firefox that ties in with WordPress installations and shows you a button labelled “geo this” under your editor.
Pressing this button will take the content of the field, send it to Placemaker and return you all the content it finds as GEO microformats. Each of the entries starts with an HTML comment telling you what Placemaker found so you can delete false positives.

Mapping vCards to Google Maps

Schon etwas älter, aber eine extrem sinnvolle Idee:

We’re going to build a map of some of my favourite restaurants in Brighton. Fitting with the principles of unobtrusive JavaScript, we’ll start with a semantically marked up list of restaurants, then use JavaScript to add the map, look up the restaurant locations and plot them as markers.

Microformats: Value-Class-Pattern

Matthias Pfefferle erklärt das Value-Class-Pattern:

Ein Datum würde mit dem value-class-pattern folgendermaßen aussehen:

</span>

Erklärung:

• dtstart gibt immer noch an, dass es sich bei dem folgenden um ein Datum handelt
• Die folgende Klasse: value-title gibt an, dass sich dtstart auf das title-Attribut des spans bezieht
• Im title steht der maschinen-lesbare text

Ziel ist es die Accessibility von Microformaten zu verbessern. Leider heißt dass dann wohl auch, dass ich diverse Seite anpassen muss - arggg.
