IE 9 gradients with rounded corners

Der IE9 mag ja besser geworden sein, aber Webentwicklern bereitet er weiterhin Kopfschmerzen:

Internet Explorer 9 beta does not support CSS3 gradients but continues to support the legacy, proprietary, gradient filter for creating gradient backgrounds on html elements.

Unfortunately, the two do not work together. Applying a gradient filter to an element with rounded corners results in the gradient background poking through the borders of the element. Here is a screen shot of the bug in action.

Die Lösung scheint SVG zu sein. Michael Barrett erklärt wie es geht. Aber ehrlich gesagt, ich werde dem IE in diesem Fall wohl einfach einen einfarbigen Hintergrund geben.

Kritik an der Tracking Protection des IE9

Simson Garfinkel bringt für Technology Review die Kritik an der “Tracking Protection” des IE9 auf den Punkt:

Zum einen ist diese Tracking Protection technisch unzulänglich: Sie kann nicht verhindern, dass Webseiten Ihr Nutzungsverhalten verfolgen. Zum anderen wird sie Unternehmen ein perfektes Argument gegen eine staatliche Regulierung liefern, die das Problem des Trackings eigentlich lösen könnte. (…) So wie Microsoft die Tracking Protection des IE9 beschrieben hat, werden die meisten dieser Schnüffelpraktiken von der Zusatzfunktion überhaupt nicht angetastet. (…) Ganz gleich, wie viele Schutzlisten Verbraucher im IE9 installieren, gibt es keine Garantie dafür, dass sie nicht ausgespäht werden. Denn die Tracking-Dienste können jederzeit unter einer neuen Webadresse eingerichtet werden. Zweitens hindert die neue Funktion jene Webseiten, die Sie aufrufen, nicht daran, Daten über Sie zu erfassen. Und da Sie nicht Seiten blockieren, die Sie brauchen, blockieren Sie auch nicht das Tracking.
