Lektion in Zugänglichkeit

Dirk Ginader hat einen interessanten Artikel über How to make tabs REALLY accessible geschrieben. Dort geht er auf verschiedene Probleme diverser JavaScript Tabs Plugins in Punkto Accessibility ein.

Und natürlich gab es auch mal wieder was zu lernen:

This anchor, as it has no href property, is not focusable by default though. To make it focusable we gave it a tabindex=”0”. Why 0? Because a tabindex of 0 does not change the natural tab flow of the page but it makes an element focusable which is not able to receive focus by default.

Einführung in WAI ARIA

Stefan Walter hat die Einführung in WAI ARIA ins Deutsche übersetzt.

ARIA ist eine positive Technologie die etwas ermöglicht — statt Entwicklern vorzuschreiben, was sie nicht tun können, erlaubt ARIA den Entwicklern komplexe Web-Applikationen zu bauen. ARIA ist auch sehr einfach zu implementieren.

Sehr zu empfehlender Artikel zumal die Dinge tatsächlich wirklich einfach zu implementieren sind! Manchmal reicht ein role-Attribut um die Bedeutung von Elementen klarzumachen und für Formulre gibt es u.a. aria-required, aria-labelledby oder aria-describedby
