Polizeidrohnen

Die sogenannten Mikrodrohnen zählen zur Klasse der “Unbemannten Luftfahrzeuge” (Unmanned Aerial Verhicles, UAV). Die technische Bezeichnung “Quadrokopter” verweist auf die vier kleinen Rotorblättter, die von Elektromotoren angetrieben werden. Abhängig vom Gewicht können sie bis zu 30 Minuten in der Luft bleiben.

Quadrokopter unterscheiden sich von den Drohnen, die von Militärs eingesetzt werden. Im Gegensatz zu den militärischen Pendants – die aus Höhen bis zu 15 Kilometern unbemerkt Aufklärungsdaten liefern – fliegen die Mikrokopter nur rund 100 Meter hoch. Die Videodaten werden per Funk an eine Empfangsstation übertragen. Im Falle des Verlustes von Funkkontakt zum Piloten sinken die Drohnen langsam zu Boden.

Im Auftrag der DARPA hat AeroVironment den Nano Hummingbird entwickelt.

The Nano Hummingbird met all, and exceeded many, of the Phase II technical milestones set out by DARPA:

• Demonstrate precision hover flight.
• Demonstrate hover stability in a wind gust flight which required the aircraft to hover and tolerate a two-meter per second (five miles per hour) wind gust from the side, without drifting downwind more than one meter.
• Demonstrate a continuous hover endurance of eight minutes with no external power source.
• Fly and demonstrate controlled, transition flight from hover to 11 miles per hour fast forward flight and back to hover flight.
• Demonstrate flying from outdoors to indoors, and back outdoors through a normal-size doorway.
• Demonstrate flying indoors ‘heads-down’ where the pilot operates the aircraft only looking at the live video image stream from the aircraft, without looking at or hearing the aircraft directly.
• Fly the aircraft in hover and fast forward flight with bird-shaped body and bird-shaped wings.

What’s Wrong with Video Surveillance?

David Murakami Wood fasst zusammen was an Video Überwachung falsch ist:

Video Surveillance, particularly fixed CCTV, is expensive, inefficient and has all kinds of negative social side-effects. Public money would be better spent on improved street lighting, schemes for community involvement and economic regeneration. CCTV certainly isn’t a ‘Panopticon’ because actually it doesn’t actually ‘see’ very well at all nor does it actually seem to alter behaviour as much as states would like in itself, but it does appear to contribute to the decline of social trust and decreasing personal responsibility, which are partly at least to blame for the problems CCTV is supposed to solve, and all of which would be more likely to increase with other solutions.

Videoüberwachung in Paris

In Paris sollen die aktuell 293 polizeilich betriebenen Kameras auf 1302 aufgestockt werden soll, plus Zugriff auf private Kameras.

Theoretisch kann man auf zwei Karten die Gegenwart und die geplante Zukunft der Videoüberwachung in Paris betrachten, theoretisch, weil zumindest bei mir ein Skript Fehler das Laden verhindert.
