Der W3C’s HTML / XHTML Markup Validator als OS X App. Sweet.

Validator S.A.C. (Stand Alone Complex) is a stand-alone, easy to install, version of the W3C’s HTML / XHTML Markup Validator for Mac OS X. Validator S.A.C. is a normal Mac OS X application. No installation is required, just put Validator S.A.C. where you need it.

Validator S.A.C. can validate local files, as well as pages on local web sites. Validate using the stand-alone Favelet, drag and drop files and URLs onto the application icon, or simply use File > Open.

Maintainable CSS

In Natalie Downes Präsentation CSS Systems for writing maintainable CSS (pdf 62.5mb) finden sich einige sehr gute Gedanken. Ich werde dass noch mal in Ruhe lesen.

A CSS System is a reusable set of content-oriented markup patterns and associated CSS created to express a site’s individual design. It is the end result of a process that emphasizes up-front planning, loose coupling between CSS and markup, pre-empting browser bugs and overall robustness. It also incorporates a shared vocabulary for developers to communicate the intent of the code.

Ich war ja noch nie ein großer Fan von Flash in “normalen” Webseiten muss aber zugeben, dass Flash einige Sachen sehr einfach macht: Video, Audio, Multi-FileUpload, etc.

So wie es aussieht ist damit möglicherweise in Flash 10 Schluß. Ich bin mal gespannt wie sich das weiter entwickelt, denn ein Umstieg auf z.B. Silverlight oder gar Java ist wohl kaum eine Lösung.

Und leider ist die Lösung - HTML 5 - wohl auch nicht so bald in der Mehrzahl der Browser verfügbar.
